Black Americans face a higher cancer burden not because of biology, but because of systemic inequalities in access to prevention, early diagnosis, and high-quality treatment. Social and economic barriers—like poverty, discrimination, and gaps in health care coverage—drive worse outcomes and higher mortality. Addressing these disparities requires confronting the deeper racial and economic injustices that shape who lives and who dies.
