Primary care is being stretched thin by short visits, growing patient loads, and a system that misuses doctors’ time. By shifting routine, protocol-driven tasks to nurses and other clinicians, physicians could focus on complex diagnosis, relationships, and the work that truly requires their training. Rethinking who does what in medicine isn’t about lowering standards—it’s about delivering better care in a system that desperately needs it.
